About VedaMoney

Independent, source-first explainers on the Indian tax, banking, and investment questions that cross borders.

What VedaMoney is

VedaMoney is an independent educational publication for Indians living in India and abroad. We explain how Indian tax rules, bank accounts, remittances, and investments work when your money, your family, or your income crosses a border.

Our readers are non-resident Indians, returning Indians, families managing money between countries, and Indian taxpayers who want a clear explanation before they act.

Why the site exists

Most cross-border money questions sit between two systems. A bank, a broker, and a tax portal each hold one part of the answer, while forums fill in the rest with opinion. We collect the official position, explain it in plain language, and link to the source so you can verify it yourself.

How we work

  • Official sources first. Our guides cite Indian government and regulator references such as the Income Tax Department, the Reserve Bank of India, SEBI, and the Union Budget portal.
  • Plain language. Rules are broken into steps, with checklists and comparison tables wherever they make the answer clearer.
  • No invented numbers. We do not publish unsourced rates, thresholds, or deadlines. Where a figure can change, we tell you where to confirm the current position.
  • Clear separation. Every guide is general information, never personalised advice, and each page says so.
  • Corrections welcome. If a rule changes or a guide becomes outdated, tell us and we will review and correct it.

How our guides are produced

Guides are drafted with an automated writing pipeline working from an editorial brief: the topic, the intended audience, and the list of official sources allowed for that subject. Before publication, a guide must pass checks for length, structure, and at least one working link to an official source. Drafts that fail those checks are rejected and rewritten before anything reaches the site. Every article remains general educational information, and none of it is a substitute for individual professional advice.

What we publish

Our library is organised into four pillars: Cross-Border Tax Vault, Remittance and Banking Ledger, India Investment Funnel, and Domestic Compliance Bridge. Each pillar collects the guides on that theme, and new articles are added through the week.

What VedaMoney is not

VedaMoney is not a chartered accountancy firm, a law firm, or a registered investment adviser. We do not manage money, sell financial products, or provide personalised recommendations. For decisions about your own situation, work with a qualified professional and confirm the current rules at the official sources.
